Mission Valley Field Trip
@ Fall is a time of transition for birds, as well as for trees and other plants. Leslie Kehoe and Bob Lee will lead a field trip to view these autumn transitions in the Mission Valley, an important stopover site for birds arriving from the boreal forests and Arctic tundra of Canada and Alaska on their southward migrations. Some of these birds will only be passing through, while others will remain to winter over. Summer residents will also be on the move, as many begin their journeys south to their wintering grounds. Raptors, waterfowl, shorebirds, and songbirds will all be in a state of flux. It's an exciting time to see what's happening. We will meet at 8 am the White Oak Park-N-Ride, 4810 US 93 South, Kalispell, to start the jaunt. Bring optics, snacks, and appropriate clothing. We should return by mid-afternoon, but we can stay as long as the birds are enchanting and people wish. We plan to carpool to the extent possible.
