Information collected
At this time, the personal information FoxTrail collects directly through forms is the email address you submit and any feedback or message details you choose to provide.
When you visit FoxTrail, our hosting provider may provide approximate request-based location details, such as city, region, country, coordinates, and timezone. FoxTrail uses this approximate location to show local context like your city, local event dates, and weather. This location is inferred from request metadata; FoxTrail does not ask your browser for precise GPS location.
How information is used
We use the information described above to:
- add you to the FoxTrail newsletter
- manage newsletter contacts
- send a welcome or similar signup-related email connected to your newsletter subscription
- review feedback or source suggestions you submit
- show local city, timezone, date, and weather information
Email communications
If you subscribe to the FoxTrail newsletter, we may use your email address to send messages related to that signup, including a welcome email and occasional FoxTrail updates. FoxTrail is designed so that a newsletter subscription may still be recorded even if a welcome email is not successfully delivered.
Service providers
We may use third-party service providers to help operate FoxTrail and communicate with users. For example, we use Resend to manage newsletter contacts and to send welcome or other signup-related email communications. FoxTrail is hosted on Cloudflare, which may provide request metadata used to estimate approximate visitor location.
We use Open-Meteo to fetch weather information for the approximate coordinates associated with a visitor request. FoxTrail sends rounded coordinates to Open-Meteo for this weather lookup and does not intentionally send your email address or exact IP address as part of that request.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose information in limited situations, such as:
- when needed to work with service providers that help us operate FoxTrail
- when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request
- when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of FoxTrail, Aether Fox Studio, or others
- in connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, sale, or transfer of some or all of the business or assets
Retention
We keep newsletter and feedback information for as long as it is reasonably needed to operate FoxTrail, manage the newsletter, send signup-related email communications, review feedback, or address related support questions. Weather lookups may be cached briefly for performance and to reduce repeated requests. We may keep information longer if needed for legitimate operational or legal reasons.
